The Sephardi language of Ladino was one such later development. Sadly, their new homes were not always safe havens, and many thousands of Sephardim were among the 6 million slaughtered by the Nazis. Descendants of the Sephardi Jews who escaped death in 1492 still faced persecution in 1942.<\/p>\n
